Joe Sacco, the man behind [[Palestine]], [[Footnotes in Gaza]], and many other works, has written about India. Sacco does what he does best. He goes deep, speaks to people directly, and brings their voices into the story without flattening them into a simple narrative. He does not begin with Muzaffarnagar itself. Instead, he traces the story back to Babri Masjid and follows the threads into the political atmosphere of contemporary India. What makes Sacco’s work stand out is that it remains journalism while making room for complexity.
