Adheena recommended it, and I had also seen it on Obama’s list. It’s a small book in simple language, easy to finish in one sitting, but it deserves to be read slow. It reads like a list of fragmented notes from a narrator I couldn’t connect with much. It felt like reading her diary without permission, and at times I wanted to make sure she was not around. Like any diary, it is not about the narrator, but about what the writer sees and thinks. I could understand what she is going through, all her wandering and searching, and the people, the city and the situations felt very close to me and to people I know.
