Things you need

Start with a kettle. A gooseneck kettle with temperature control gives you the most control over your brew. If you don’t have one, use a regular kettle with an external thermometer and a drip pot.

A grinder is worth having if you’re brewing with whole beans. Manual grinders are a good choice unless you’re making a lot of coffee. Good options range from around ₹4,000 to ₹30,000, including the AAshonee Classic Classic, Timemore C2S, 1zpresso J Ultra, and Comandante C40 MK4. If you prefer electric, the Baratza Encore is a good option.

A scale is also useful for measuring coffee and water consistently. Most coffee scales have a timer, but your phone works too. Depending on your brewing method, you’ll also need paper filters.
