Few Random Things
Focus on your taste preference. Don’t get too caught up in what someone else says is a good cup of coffee. If you like it, that’s what matters. You will slowly figure out what kind of coffee, roast, grind and brewing style you enjoy.
Robusta is not bad coffee. There is a lot of talk about Arabica being better and Robusta being inferior. It is not that simple. Robusta can make a very good cup. Try different coffees and decide based on what you like.
Reuse your Aeropress filter. You don’t have to throw away the paper filter after every cup. Rinse it properly and you can reuse it a few times. PS: I have tried a steel filter with the Aeropress, but it never worked for me.
Be ready to experiment. There is no need to follow a recipe exactly every time. Change the grind size, water temperature, coffee-to-water ratio or brewing time and see what happens. Small changes can make a noticeable difference.
Do have coffee earlier, if that affects sleep. If coffee affects your sleep, don’t drink it late just because you want another cup. Have it earlier in the day.
Note down your experiments. When you are trying different coffees and recipes, write it down. A notebook is enough.
