Create to give

When you don’t know what to make, make something for someone specific. A gift for a person you know changes what you put in it. You stop thinking about reception and start thinking about them. The work becomes less about your taste and more about what they’d actually use or love.

It also removes the paralysis that comes from making for an abstract audience. A gift has a recipient. That specificity is enough to start.
